The first-aid kit is located in the tutor Knowledge Stocker’s front tower cabinet (C-115) and in the white art cart (C-114). The second first-aid kit is located inside the tutor Knowledge Stocker’s private door. The third fist-aid kit is located in the classroom in the presenter’s drawer. The first-aid forms are located in the front sign-in folder. They must be signed by the parent or guardian that enrolled them. These need to include: bandages, gauze, thermometer, and ice pack in fridge or C-115. We follow Universal Precaution.
Knowledge Consumer need to be potty trained when entering any program at Shopping For Knowledge, Inc. and are not change in any form or fashion. (Exception can be made by owner or director digression). Children who are still not 100% trained may enter with pull-ups or diaper. If a person soils themselves in any way, the parent or guardian are to be notified by phone to remedy the situation. If the soiling and accidents are ongoing at several sessions, the child will be taken into consideration to re-attend when potty training is more successful.
There will be no entering the restroom area with any child or customers who are knowledge consumers. The limited intrusion will be to knock and ask if they are okay. If there is no answer the manager will use their discretion as to entering the room for safety reasons.
During the transformation of Charlestowne Mall to the Quad, we will remain and it will not interfere with the Future of Shopping for Knowledge, Inc. in St. Charles. We are here, and we will continue to serve you!
Emergency Evacuation/Lock Down

Shopping For Knowledge, Inc. will retain responsibility of all children on premises until they are release to a parent, guardian, or other designated person.
Employees will remain on premises as service workers. Such employees will be subject to whatever tasks are assigned by the person or persons in charge, and may not leave the premises until the same person or persons give them official permission to do so.
Parents, guardians or other designated person should not telephone the tutor shop. They should listen to the radio for progress reports on whatever disaster is taking place. Follow the official instructions as relayed by officials via the radio or other forms of communications. If the parents or guardians are able to reach the tutor shop without danger to themselves or without interference with disaster workers, they should come to pick up their child or children. Children will be released only to the person in which had signed them up. In events of emergency, they may be released to the emergency name on the enrollment form.
FIRE: LIFE, ALARM, REPORT, CONTAIN, EVACUATE
Save a life: Evacuate any person in immediate danger. Adults follow the manager in charge and young children have the “Life Rope” to hold on to as the manager in charge leads them to safety. The “Life Rope” is next to the first-aid kit in the front Drop-in Tutor case (Unit C-115). The “Life Rope” is in the white rolling cabinet next to the first-aid kit (Unit C-114).
-Use fire pull station if one is present
-Supplement with intercom or voice shouts
-Say, “There is a fire at 3800 East Main Street, St. Charles, Il 60174 Unit C-115 and C-114 and we are a tutor shop with children. The building is burning.
-Assign one person to meet the fire officials if possible, children and customer safety first
Use a portable fire extinguisher or wall extinguisher if it is safe to stay in the area while doing so. The fire extinguisher is located outside the office door (C-115). The fire extinguisher is located outside the back door Knowledge stocker enter and another one on the tutor loft (C-114).
Contain (slow) the spread of fire and smoke by closing all doors and windows
-Tutor Knowledge Stocker Employees are responsible for doing this in all area of the tutor shop if they are empty
-Management and support personnel do this as well
If the fire is major, assign one person to shut off electricity and gas (Typically management in charge and on duty.)
-As soon the fire is discovered, start the orderly evacuation of the building, as during fire drills.
-Tutor Knowledge Stocker Employees take with them the attendance enrollment sheet along with cell phones (management in charge or delegate this process)
-Administrative or other on duty is the predesignated-management personnel to check bathroom and other areas where children or adults might be away and will be responsible for evacuation these children and adults
-Administrative personnel take with them children’s coats, emergency files, cash, and checks, other pertinent records that are easily transportable, and the first-aid kit, if there is time and can do so safely.
-When safe within the predesignated evacuation area, all children and adults and all staff are all accounted for and in no need of first-aid.
-All staff reassures children and each other of their safety.
-First-aid is administered if needed.
-Call families for pick-up at safe zone (Starbucks) if cannot reenter building; go to inside area of local Starbucks if possible and then call
- Building is not re-entered until permission is given by the fire department
IN CASE OF A TORNADO/LOCK DOWN
If there is sufficient warning, children and adults may be picked up and leave by designated enrolled person or emergency person.
Children who are at the tutor shop during the tornado warning, should be kept indoors and strongly urged to not be picked up to leave. All people should be taken to the bathroom which is the predesignated area (Tutor Loft C-114 and Bathroom C-115)
Do not stop to lock the doors or close windows (unless in lock down, Manager in charge locks the doors). The safety of children and adults is our primary concern.
Flashlight in the office in case of power outage and by first aid storage.
A non electric radio shall be used to keep informed of the progress of the tornadoes and of the prediction and/or any special instruction from local officials.
Once children and adults are in a protective, employees must remain calm, and reassure the children and adults. Children need much more reassurance in times of disaster.
